Andrew Spano, friend of the gays

by Jeremy Hooper

Events Images AndrewspanoWestchester County Executive Andrew Spano (pictured) today said that NY Medical College's refusal to sanction a gay student group was a violation of the county's anti-discrimination policy. Regarding the school's decision, Spano said:

"This is an injustice to students and a blatant violation of the county’s anti-discrimination policy. Students, whether gay or straight, should have a forum to discuss issues that affect them and that will help them improve the delivery of health care services to gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender patients.”

The Westchester County Human Rights Commission is conducting an investigation into the matter and will submit a report on what options are available for further action.
