Adam, Eve, Steve

by Jeremy Hooper

In Alabama, the Republican Legislative Committee sponsored a flier attacking Democrat Gloria Dolbare for not signing a Christian Coalition pledge in support of an amendment to ban same-sex marriages. Dolbare, who in a special election last month lost her bid to fill the seat vacated by the death of her minister husband, says she never saw the pledge form and possibly set it aside with other mail during the time she was campaigning.

Now we haven't seen the flier, but it is vividly described by the AP as:

The first page of the flier shows a classical painting that appears to represent the Garden of Eden and a nearly naked man and a woman with a copy of the Christian Coalition pledge covering her body. A photo on the left side of the flier's second page shows two smiling men on a porch. One is kneeling on one knee before the other and holding the man's left hand in both of his own. "God made Adam and Eve," the flier reads, "but Gloria Dolbare wants you to meet...Adam and Steve!"

Sounds classy.
Well we thought Adam and Steve sounded like a lovely couple, so we asked them to star in another flier, one more in line with their beliefs:

*Editor's Note: We actually find Alabama to be a gorgeous state, and are well aware that there are many gay-friendly citizens inhabiting "the Yellowhammer State."
