Good news for gays in Utah...no REALLY!

by Jeremy Hooper

Democrats in Utah have chosen openly gay Scott McCoy to fill a state Senate spot left vacant by former Sen. Paula Julander. Once approved, Scotty will join Rep. Jackie Biskupski as the state's only openly queer legislators.

McCoy, who serves a vice chairman of advocacy group Equality Utah, had been an outspoken critic of last week's vote against a bill that would have given marriage-like rights to nontraditional couples. Although he vows to not be a "single-issue Senator," McCoy's appointment is clearly a very positive thing for the gay community of Utah. So who's pissy about McCoy's triumph?

Well, Gayle Ruzicka (pictured), of the Eagle Forum, for one. Ruzicka called the the choice "very interesting," telling the AP:

"People have the right to make their own choices, and that's the lifestyle he's chosen, and that's the choice the Democrats made"

We hear that Ruzicka was later found on a Salt Lake City street corner rambling to anyone who would listen: And this choice is chosen at a time when choices are choosing to destroy chosen heterosexuals who have chosen to choose the choice of choosing to not choose to appreciate the choice of chosen homosexuals choosing to choose diversity."
