No G-SA in GA
In Cleveland, Georgia, a group of students have withdrawn their application for a gay-straight alliance due to intense pressure from the community. In lieu of a G-SA, the White County High students have submitted a new proposal requesting permission to form a Peers Rising and Diversity Education Club which will focus on bullying, diversity, and tolerance.
So the students have compromised. Everyone's happy, right?
Not even close. The community is still up in arms, many of them using last night's school board meeting as a forum to voice their opposition. One of those speaking was local pastor Chris Anderson of Shoal Creek Baptist Church, who said about the new proposal, "a change in name does not change the game."
Of course, if many of those opposing the club had their way, the G-SA would likely be playing their favorite game:
But that game -- with the exception of the super-fun spinner -- is really scary.
As for White County High, their new proposal is being considered. Students can expect to see the new club sometime between the "12th of Never" and "When Hell Freezes Over."
