Freddie Does Fort Wayne

by Jeremy Hooper

Fred Phelps and his band of intolerant gypsies took their dog and pony show to Fort Wayne, Indiana this weekend, where the clan once again demonstrated that what they lack in intelligence, human decency, rational thought, and soap, they more than make up for in perseverance. The Phelpseseses managed to squeeze in pickets at five area churches, a performance of "The Laramie Project," and all of the local newspapers during their two day stay.

But the picketing was merely the opening act for this tour o' fanaticism, which climaxed in a Sunday night gay rights debate, at which Phelps had been invited to participate. At the event, Phelps described "The Laramie Project” as homosexual propaganda taking advantage of Matthew Shepard’s 'pitiful' life, and said homo-gays can’t be forgiven because they won’t even admit they are sinning.

Keep talking Freddie. Whenever you or one of your progeny open your pie holes, the world gets another glimpse into the vileness of hate. You guys package the cruelty of homophobia into a physical specimen, forcing anyone who witnesses your malevolence to look within and question their own intolerant motives.

So keep on touring...we'll be there every step of the way.
