Sapphic student seeks school's 'sorry'
A lesbian student in Santa Ana, California, has filed a lawsuit claiming that officials at her school (Santiago High) forced her to briefly transfer to another institution (Bolsa Grande High) because of displays of affection that she showed towards her girlfriend. 17-year old Charlene Nguon alleges that the school's principal "outed" her to her parents and disciplined her for hugging and kissing her teen sweetie on school grounds, while tolerating similar hormonal exhibitions from her hetero peers.
Now we must admit that we have mixed feelings about this one - while we totally support Ms. Nguon's young love in bloom and pending suit, we are in a way just glad to hear that the "burn at the stake" school punishment from our own adolescent days of yore seems to have been reduced to a mere campus transfer. That fire was hot, the stake uncomfy, and the entire scenario just embarrassing as all get out!
We do encourage you to fight like hell little lady! Just don't forget the feather-haired queer forefathers and foresisters whose experience has made your own that much less painful.
