UPDATE: Yes Virginia, there is a marriage-banning clause

A proposed amendment to ban gay marriage in Virginia is just one misguided step away from being put to the state's voters this November. Granted preliminary approval today in the Senate, the measure only has to survive one final Senate vote tomorrow in order to make it to the 11/06 ballot.

Meaning, of course, that Virginia is now on the fast track to becoming the 17th state to be profiled in the 2036 documentary film, The Pink Scare: Tales of Inequality from the Marriage-Deprived Folks Who Lived the Bullsh*t.
