Wash GOP Senator does 'about face', thus bringing a smile to our own puss

by Jeremy Hooper

A Republican Washington state Senator, Bill Finkbeiner (pic.), announced yesterday that he'll this year go against the majority of the state's GOP and support a bill that protects gays and lesbians from discrimination in the sectors of housing, jobs, and insurance. Speaking on the topic of queer discrimination, Finkbeiner said via a statement, "I now find it is both appropriate and necessary for the state to make it clear that this is not acceptable." Responding to Finkbeiner, we say via this sentence, "Wow dude, kick ass!"

This particular "don't deny me this apartment because I might have the homo-sex somewhere on its spacious floor plan, perhaps in the walk-in closet or near the washer/dryer connections" bill lost by one vote last year, so Finkbeiner's 180° certainly bodes well for the legislation's '06 prospects. Here's hoping that by '07, it will only be a Washington gay's tardiness, poor attitude, or feeling that "the customer is always right to assume that I might spit in your food" that will get them fired, not their 'moness.
