ID: Committee commits to banning commitments

by Jeremy Hooper

By a vote of 5-4, an Idaho Senate Committee has approved a bill to ban same-sex marriage in the Gem/Potato State. This comes on the heels of last week's 53-17 House approval of the measure, and with today's go-ahead, only a two-thirds 'aye' vote from the full Senate now lies between the legislative cow dung and its desire to sully the state's November ballot.

A similar measure failed in the full Senate last year, so fingers crossed that its fate will be just as cruel in '06. We certainly hope so, as mashed carrots and cauliflower pancakes certainly don't sound as tasty as their tater counterparts.
