Why did TN Christian school reportedly deny gay fam's app? (hint: the 'fam' part wasn't the problem)

by Jeremy Hooper

A Nashville gay couple, John Barnby and an unnamed partner, are claiming that local private school Donelson Christian Academy denied their kindergarten-aged son admission to the educational institution on the basis of his parents' homosexuality. Nashville City Paper reports that DCA's headmaster, Danny Kellum (pic.), told Barnby:

...that his home life is an abomination against God and that if Barnby’s son was to attend DCA, he would be taught that he comes from a sinful family and subject to the ultimate punishment from God. Kellum went on to say that he had family members who used to be gay but have repented their sinful ways and given their life to God, Barnby said.

Which is of course nutty, as everyone knows that kindergarten students don't know the meaning of the words abomination or sinful. If you want to get through to their young brains, you have to say: "Unless your daddies go back into the closet, the bogeyman who lives in yours is going to eat you while you sleep." Duh.

Kellum told the paper that he has no comment regarding the matter. No word if this is because he's too busy telling lil' Johnny that next time it rains it'll be because his parents' divorce is making God cry, though we'll investigate and get back to you.
