BREAKING: No NY gay marriage yet

by Jeremy Hooper

Saying it is a question that needs to be addressed by the legislature, the NY Court of Appeals (New York's highest court) has just ruled against legalizing gay marriage.

More to come; in the meantime, the unfortunate decision is below:

NY Court of Appeals Decision [PDF]

Concurring with the decision: Judge Graffeo, Judge G.B. Smith, Judge Read, and Judge R.S. Smith
Dissenting: Chief Judge Kaye, Judge Ciparick
*Judge Rosenblatt had recused himself from the case

Chief Judge Kaye says in her dissent: "I am confident that future generations will look back on today's decision as an unfortunate misstep."

Indeed.

***There will be a rallies tonight at various locations around the state. For more information and locations, visit the Empire State Pride Agenda.
