Pedophile/ bicycle riding fish, tomato/tomahto.

Yesterday we told you how Marcus Kindley, the leader of the Guilford County Republican Party, compared homosexuality to pedophilia on his blog site. Well. he has now added an addendum to his offensive comments so that they read:

We now say that homosexuality is ok. That it is natural. Yes it is as natural as pedophilia. (Addendum: July 12, 2006 a better choice of words could have been used here.. as natural as a fish riding a bicycle)
If it were natural then we wouldn’t be having a conversation about it, because there would be no procreation. It really is that simple. All the other studies and written articles are the justification for the actions of this group of individuals.

So is a being compared to a bike-riding guppy less offensive than being compared to a child molester? Sure. In fact, we don't really mind being juxtaposed with a gill-breathing cyclist, as such a fish just seems like a really cool and talented overachiever. But since Mr. Kindley is still using the gays/mountain biking goldfish comparison to paint homosexuals an unnatural, his little addendum does little to correct the innately flawed logic.

Mr. Kindley, if you simply don't care for homosexuality, then just say that! But you might wanna stop awkwardly challenging the considerable evidence for homosexuality's normalcy; your claims are only hurting you and your party's credibility. In fact, they're about as natural as a grown man ignoring scientific research and psychological evidence in order to support a discriminatory political agenda.
