Koering defeats Goedker; 'oe' vowel combo just happy to have been so represented

Paul Koering -- the openly gay, openly Republican state senator from Minnesota who was fighting a fierce campaign battle not only against challenger and "family-values candidate" Kevin Goedker, but also state anti-gay rights groups -- last night won in the state's Republican primary.

When interviewed, Koering's sexual orientation said it was very excited to go from a place where it's "under constant attack" by a portion of its own party, to a place where it's merely "under constant scrutiny."
