'Rhode' to marriage: RI couples can marry in Mass

In what could be a precedent-setting case, a Superior Court Judge ruled today that Wendy Becker and Mary Norton, a lesbian couple from Rhode Island, can legally marry in Massachusetts. Even though antiquated Massachusetts law prevents out-of-state gay couples from hitchin' in the state, Judge Thomas Connolly determined that since Rhode Island law doesn't specifically prohibit gay marriage, there's no valid reason to forbid the ladies from entering into legal couplehood.
Encouraging!
It remains to be seen how the Rhode Island and Massachusetts anti-gays will react; though don't be shocked if "Mazel tov! Where are you registered?" is not the sentiment this news elicits.
But "thanks and Williams-Sonoma," nevertheless.
