A real pioqueer: Kameny's work gets new storage building

KamenydemoToday in Washington, gay rights pioneer Frank Kameny turned over more than 70,000 documents, photographs, and bits of memorabilia (spanning 40+ years of gay advocacy) to the Library of Congress for archival purposes.

News that made us think twice before moving our "Fred Phelps' head on Elroy Jetson's body" jpeg to our computer's trash can. Could be invaluable someday!

It remains to be seen if the government will ever decide to archive the work of some of the 20th century's anti-gay rights pioneers. Though it's unlikely, as the current generation of rights foes still seems to be making use of the same exact playbook as their queer-fighting forefathers.
