Bored with American companies, AFA turns attention towards Sweden

Saying that "the promotion of homosexual couples as a 'family' is offensive and undermines American values," the folks at the American Family Association are encouraging their followers to protest this Ikea commercial:

Over on their "One Million Dads" site, the AFA has set up a form letter where those who feel that society is crumbling under the crushing weight of the Swedish retailer's "liberal worldview" can send a message of contempt to the company's president. Those choosing to send the anti-gay letter can then pat themselves on the back, as they've once again fulfilled their duty of allowing themselves to be convinced by extremists that the Biblical principles of acceptance and love should be trumped by a scattering of passages that quite possibly deal far more with pagan temple rituals than homosexuality as we now know it.

But hey -- who needs to rationally analyze something like contempt for a sizable portion of the population?

It's of course unlikely that Ikea, which has a history of pro-gay ads, will every cave to "pro-family" pressure, or that the American Family Association, which has a history of blind rage towards the gay community, will ever just shut the f**k up about people and families that they clearly don't understand. Even more unlikely: that we'll be able to successfully assemble an Ikea bookcase within the time frame it will take the two groups to work out their differences.

Complicated, those instructions!

***NOTE: Don't try and be a wise guy and think you can alter AFA's form letter to read in a gay-friendly manner. As we've seen time and time again, they generally have these sorts of things set up so that any letter you send through their system will count as a message of support for the AFA's gay-unfriendly cause, as well as register you as one of their supporters.

Your thoughts

why are you so utterly obsessed with where someone puts his d...k? I am certain that "God" can take that with a smile.
