Report: Sonics owners donate to less-than-super cause
It has been revealed that two owners of the Seattle Supersonics basketball team, Tom Ward and Aubrey McLendon, have donated more than a $1.1 million to Americans United to Preserve Marriage, a Gary Bauer-headed "pro-family" group that is trying to ban gay marriage.
Totally explaining why we recently saw this outside of Key Arena:
Aren't theme nights fun?
Team spokesperson Jim Kneeland does say that the owners are not trying to impose their views on anyone and makes the general argument that folks should separate politics from the game. And while we agree about the need for such a separation to an extent, you must forgive us if our next trip to Seatlle will not involve us putting money in the pockets of those who wish to keep us legally separated from our teammate in the pick-up game of life. Because although they have every right to protest our rights on their free time, we also have the right to cry "foul!"

Your thoughts
That picture is ironic for me as I was in that same spot last summer getting marriage equality postcards signed to send to the Washington State Legislature. (Maybe it worked becuase we have domestic partnership and marriage bills introduced this session.)
Oh well, just one more reason for this Seattlite to hate the Sonics. I hope they do move to Oklahoma City.
