WA gays may soon get to walk down the aisle...of a govt. office building
A bill that would allow gay couples to register as domestic partners passed the Washington state Senate today.
The pot of gold at the end of a marriage-seeking rainbow? No. A nice, small bone possibly being thrown to decent, respect-demanding same-sex couples? Absolutely!
The measure, which would give gay couple rights such as hospital visitation and inheritance, is expected to pass the House and be signed into law by Gov. Christine Gregoire. Beyond that, it is expected to pass the point of necessity and be signed into the irrelevancy books once this country removes its proverbial head from its time-honored ass and ends this unnecessary and offensive discussion about which Americans are entitled to to what degree of equality.

Your thoughts
It still has to pass the house, but given the number of co-sponsors that seems very likely. Additionally, Governor Gregoire has indicated she will sign the bill so we are hopeful.
Some of the floor debate in the Senate was unpleasant with Senator Val Stevens being especially difficult to listen to. Words in her floor speech included favorites like "witchcraft", "beasteology", "necrophilia", and "incest."
