Wanted, Crucified or Resurrected: TVC graphically pits gays against Jesus

by Jeremy Hooper

So we've seen Louis Sheldon of the Traditional Values Coalition take many different routes in his condemnation of federal hate crimes protections for the LGBT community.

  • He has written scathing pieces in which he completely tries to deny that gays are a targeted minority group who need protection (in which he repeatedly refers to the legislation as a "Pro-Homosexual/Drag Queen Bill").
  • We've even seen his organization present a comic -- yes, a comic -- to try and drive home their unreasoned points.
  • Last week, in a video posted on his site, we saw Mr. Sheldon completely lie about a Clinton era hate crimes document, trying to make it look like it was anti-Christian.

It's been a whole bunch of nut-erooskie, all for the purpose of keeping LGBT people more vulnerable to crimes of bias.

Well, never ones at a loss for straws at which to grasp, Sheldon and TVC have now released the following.  Try to pick your jaw up off the floor:

Picture 13-19

No, that is not a parody image: This is an actual document crafted by the Traditional Values Coalition's hands. By this one-page work of art, they are genuinely putting out the false ideas that (a) by trying to protect gays from violent acts, folks are trying to criminalize Jesus; (b) only those who oppose gays are worthy of the label "Christian;" (c) Jesus was a raging homophobe; and (d) we live in a theocracy. In fact, this might set some sort of new "pro-family" record for most offensive sentiment conveyed by the least amount of words (though we'll have to compare it to some of the American Family Association's handiwork to get an official validation)!

But if you think this one's bad, just wait until the inevitable moment when hate crimes legislation, gay marriage, and every other pro-gay measure finally passes. We're not exactly sure what TVC's response will look like, but we do hear they have their best artists learning how to depict a holy death row inmate with a propensity for dropping the soap.

Your thoughts

Man, they are really going crazy over this aren't they? Jesus never even said anything about gays!

"Begins to lay the legal foundation and framework"? What is wrong with these people?

I cannot wait until the find themselves in their version of an afterlife to find out that they were truly the evil ones.
