Voice for gay soldiers to march away from the Hill
Rep. Marty Meehan, the Democratic congressman who has for the past two years sponsored legislation to repeal the military's Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy, has announced that he is resigning from Congress to take a position at the University of Massachusetts at Lowell.
It remains to be seen who will now step up to fill Meehan's gay-supportive combat boots and become the congressional face of a DADT repeal. Requirements for the job: (1) Believe in the principles of America and the Constitution (2) Understand the meaning of the terms "fair" and "decent" (3) Not hate gay people (4) Possess as least half of a brain *EDIT: No need for a mind at all, as the issue of letting tax-paying citizens fight to defend their country is a complete and total no-brainer.
Meehan steps down July 1. Congressional leaders: Which one of you is gonna step up?

Your thoughts
Meanwhile, there is still no companion bill to Meehan's MREA in the Senate.
Especially not one from Hillary Clinton, who happens to sit on the Armed Services Committee. Go figure.
