All employees must wash hands of bias before returning to work

"Not all men who self-identify as homosexual, or who engage in homosexual behaviors, take part in these types of anonymous homosexual rendezvous -- but we know that statistics show that a lot of them do," says Barber. "And I think that people need to consider how they might feel if one of their children were to walk in at a park, or an airport, or elsewhere into a restroom and walk into this type of behavior. Something needs to be done about it."

Barber says there are now several high-profile cases of politicians being caught "
soliciting or engaging in homosexual sex in public." He also cited former New Jersey Governor Jim McGreevy's memoirs in which McGreevy admitted to engaging in homosexual sex in public truck stop restrooms. According to one Minnesota news outlet, the restroom where Senator Craig was arrested is "well known among men who seek sex in public places."

But here's the thing: The two men that Matt Barber points to were both hetero-identified men at the time of their (alleged) trysts. While the conservative side wants to overlook it, this is a HUGE detail. Because as we've stated many times before, there is an undeniable connection between the closet and the bathroom stall! And there is also an undeniable connection between the closet and the sort of gay-demonizing rhetoric for which Matt Barber is well known!

Are there out and proud gay men who engage in anonymous restroom sex? Surely. There are also out and proud heteros who engage in their own anonymous encounters (which must be facilitated in other venues such as Craigslist forums, as bathrooms are not usually unisex). And there are also some who get off on the danger element attached to such encounters. But the largest sect of the population that seems to be most in favor of these stall encounters would be those gay men who are not openly living their truths, be it because of shame, fear, or a geographic location that makes visible gay life an impossibility. If we want to "protect the children" from stumbling upon such toilet encounters, we can start by protecting the mental and physical well-being of those who are gay and wish to love and live as freely as their heterosexual counterparts. For if we stop marginalizing gay men, there will be less an less NEED to explore the sexual opportunities that exist in the margins!

Your thoughts

And indeed, where did the term "Mile High Club" over the last 40 years instanciate from....? However, that is seen as a hetero badge of OK sexuality.

What? Have children never been in planes and needed to pee.

Yet more hypocrisy.
