Barber: They're here, they're queer -- shun 'em so folks won't get used to it!
"...simply pagan celebrations of hedonism and sexual deviancy"
"simply: The way folks like Matt Barber have to look at everything gay-themed in order to foster their myopic, divisive world views. For if he and his allies looked past the spectacle, glitz, campiness, and extravagance that is admittedly typical of many gay pride parades, he would see much more. He would see a community of people taking one day out of the year to say, 'We will not sit back and remain in closets while groups like CWA condemn our lives and loves as hedonistic.' Matt would also realize that parades in general are over-the-top displays, where opulence is typically the name of the game. Gays, frustrated with societal constraints and typically more privy to flights of creative fancy, simply heighten the parade concept. But despite the embraced float-based excess, a more reasoned version of Matt Barber would also see that in every gay pride parade, there are scores of politicians, political groups, religious bodies, city officials, unions, PFLAG parents, and loads of other revelers whose 'hedonism' is confined to the 'radical,' 'self-serving' belief that gays deserve to be treated like human beings!
However, he will surely not see these things, as quick, snappy generalizations are far easier to sell to those who are looking for any and every reason to justify their discriminatory outlooks!"
I love that Concerned Women for America can't even find female spokesmodels.
