Had he come out, would his career have been in 'Jeopardy!'?
Well, many have been thinking and insinuating it. However, Hollywood Reporter writer Ray Richmond is just coming out and saying it:
Merv Griffin died a closeted homosexual [Hollywood Reporter via Reuters]

Rumor has it that Hollywood Reporter pulled the story and demanded Mr. Richmond pull it from his own website. There is also a rumor that they are threatening to fire him. However, as of 5:41 is back up at both HR and Mr. Richmond's site, so who the hell knows!? We suggest you check out the link to Michelangelo Signorile (above) for the latest.

**UPDATE, 8:23: So Ray Richmond has now detailed all of the events in his own words. And let us take a second to correct the record: The "Merv Griffin Died a Closeted Homosexual" headline was not used by Richmond himself, but rather by Reuters when they picked up his piece. Richmond never intended for that more sensationalistic headline to be used.
