Peter LaBarbera vs. Peter becoming Barbara
In a piece where he once again slams transgender individuals (or "she-males," as he calls them) for merely existing, Peter LaBarbera of the so-called Americans For Truth group says of that sect:
Remember that joke about a lesbian trapped in a man’s body? … It’s not a joke anymore!
A rhetorical Q&A that really just shows his ignorance in terms of gender issues, as sexual orientation is a wholly separate concept from gender identity. The two are (Adam's) apples and (a pair of luscious, ripe) oranges! So essentially, any joke about "a lesbian trapped in a man's body" would pertain only to those who feel they were both born into the wrong body and born to love women. But that second variable has no more to do with the first than does their eye color, handedness, or capacity for recognizing and slicing through Mr. LaBarbera's baloney.
The thing is, when comes to either sexual orientation or gender identity, what folks like Peter really should be saying is:
Remember those crude, mean-spirited jokes we've made at the expense of various members of the LGBT community for generations? Well, we better get them out of our system now, as upcoming generations are going to find them less and less funny!
After all, people are very much starting to realize that the real joke here is the one about the man who professes to hold the "truth," even though it's 99.8% based in dogma, misrepresentations, junk science, and discrimination.
