Pool cue 'Vitoed'; GLAAD no longer MAAD
Earlier this week, we told you how the folks at GLAAD were lashing out against "A Cue To Die For," a pool cue that was being marketed by "Sopranos" actor Joseph Gannascoli, playing up on the fact that his on-screen gay character had been brutally beaten and killed with that particular billiard item. Well, we've now learned that the company responsible for the wooden snooker rod, Rockwell Billiards, has decided to cease sells of the offensive item:
GLAAD ACKNOWLEDGES ROCKWELL BILLIARDS’ DECISION TO CEASE SALES OF OFFENSIVE “A CUE TO DIE FOR” [GLAAD Release]
So let this be a warning to you, Jake Gyllenhaal. This might not be the wisest product for you to cash in on:
Because gay hate crimes, fictional or not -- just not suitable profit centers!
**UPDATE, 8/20: Gannascoli not GLAAD about whole situation [Miami Herald]
