Video: Lindsey & Lydia spreading rumors about Leslie

by Jeremy Hooper

We have always believed that if we waited around long enough, our socially conservative opposition would release a video that was so spot-on and reasoned, we couldn't help but have our opinions swayed by it. We've truly believe that we'd come across a video that actually presents the true issues at hand in a fair and forthright manner, rather than the short-sighted and one-sided cherry picked version of actuality that is so typical of their side. We've held out hope that they'd master the art of marrying sharp wit with political strategy, and cobble together a piece that makes us both laugh and think. And we've given them the benefit of the doubt that at some point, they have to eventually marry all of these elements and release one highly influential work of art.

Well, we're still waiting: convenient! No mention of the true issue at hand with Southwick, which is his potentially troubling record on the rights of African Americans, gays, and lesbians. Instead, they just keep saying things like, "well, he's a war hero," as if such automatically clears him of all scrutiny. And then, of course, they attack the liberals who have genuine concerns about how Mr. Southwick's appointment might affect certain communities of people, making those who are calling his nomination into question seem like unreasoned militants who are baselessly attacking the poor judge because they simply have nothing better to do.

Ya know, Lindsey, we have some shoes that we will gladly let you borrow. In fact, we insist! For perhaps when you actually walk a mile in our queer shoes, you will open your eyes to the fact that we are not the bad guys because we want judicial appointments who we can trust to cast unbiased rulings. And you will hopefully see that while such actions and rhetoric might seem like simple political discourse to you, to those of us who have truly experienced mean-spirited bias and cruel acts of discrimination (much of it propagated by the folks responsible for this video, CWA), the stakes are MUCH higher!

Your thoughts

Speaking (writing) of CitizenLink I am surprised you haven't brought up Stuart Shepard's latest installment of Spotlight rife with right wing talking points (children raised best with their "biological parents", "wild-eyed liberal mainstream media dictionary" that he is so fond of, liberals fondness of big government and of course marriage...except for the homos of course).
