Mitt: Closeted fan of the Dykes on Bikes parade?

Do the gays dislike the idea of a Mitt Romney presidency because of his staunch belief in anti-gay politics, or do we dislike the idea because of Mitt's opportunistic adoption of anti-gay politics in order to gain conservative ground? Well, the folks at RomneyFacts.com have uncovered even more evidence to suggest that Mitt's gay-unfriendly pushes of recent years are borne less out of personal belief and more out of a newfound interest in gay-themed political football. Check out this 2002 flier:

Sure, it says "sexual preference" instead of "orientation." But we can't imagine the modern day incarnation of Romney would honor a local Pride Weekend, even with a hostile descriptor like "sexual abomo-immoral-Hell-bound-ocity. So this should make both Romney supporters and opponents question where, exactly the REAL Mitt stands on gay issues. And it should make the whole of the nation ask ourselves why we continue to accept double-talking, stand-for-nothing, back-and-forth, waffling, mealy-mouthed, "whatever will get me elected" rhetoric as par for the presidential course, instead of standing up and demanding that our would-be leaders actually prove the legitimacy of their convictions (regardless of how we might feel about them on a personal level).

Gays deserve better than games being played with their lives. But beyond that, America deserves better than rich, privileged individuals playing hide-and-go-seek with the truth that exists behind their public facades.

Your thoughts

I think that the most genuine candidate is Barak Obama. He falls short of endorsing marriage, but I think he's honest on most all issues and is malleable
with respect to equal rights. He may offer "best hope" for 2008.

We've had blatant lies and little honesty for seven years. I long for a breath of fresh air.

I'm just tired of the spin, news tampering and lies of the current administration. If Obama can dismantle that machine I think that we would be well served.

I know that this is not a political blog, but I feel strongly and couldn't help it.

Only 490 days to go.

You can’t make too much of the depravity of the leaders of this country even if you’re way overmedicated.

Until recently Mitt Romney’s Utah based fundraiser was Robert Lichfield. Lichfield runs a group of christian/LDS youth reeducation camps. He was forced to resign as Romney’s fundraiser when he became the defendant in a federal lawsuit charging that students at these "behavior modification” camps suffer "physical abuse, emotional abuse and sexual abuse." No doubt the worst abuse was reserved for the worst sinners - young gays and lesbians, some in their very early teens.

The lawsuit in the U.S. District Court in Utah contends that the children forced into these camps by their self-righteous and incompetent parents for being ‘ungodly’ were kicked, beaten, thrown to the ground, imprisoned in animal cages, made to eat their vomit, instructed to clean toilets with a toothbrush and then brush their teeth with it, and forced into sexual acts.

That’s the real thing – that’s child molestation, and it's repulsive and perverted.

Republicans (the Repugnant Party) are baboons in people suits with a totalitarian christian attached at the hip. Democrats (the Deceitful Party) are Republicans in drag. Which ever one wins we end up paying the price - dying in wars, suffering discrimination, coping with a lowered standard of living, or just drowning when the levees break.

And all this time we could have friends.
