Poll: Gays make great quiches, couture, and schisms

The Episcopal Church may be debating its position on gay clerics, but for the vast majority of One News Now readers, the debate is already over:

Picture 16-22

Wow! So around 90% will leave the church if its decided that being gay does not make one unfit to serve God?! Why we'd be willing to bet that less would indicate such a desire if the church were to start ordaining goldfish! Hell, they might actually like such ordinations, as those cold-blooded water dwellers are far less likely to challenge their notions, beliefs, and myopic condemnations!

But thanks to the 4% who tried to voice some reason. It's better to fruitlessly voice support for what's decent than to mindlessly voice support for what's "fruit"-less.

Your thoughts

Stands to reason.

A global phenomenon of indoctrination.

Teach these idiots some astronomy, in order to
belittle their local little god...

I'm curious how many of those votes are actually from members of TEC and how many are from members of other Christian denominations? (Of course, that's apparently been a problem with at least a couple of break-away parishes too. The "parish members" voting to break away included a large number of people whose standing in the TEC was questionable.

Jarred,

I agree. I'm willing to bet that very very few, if any, of those participating in the poll have ever set foot in an Episcopal church.

As the spouse of an out gay Episcopal priest, let me assure you and your readers that the results of this poll do not in any way reflect reality. The Episcopal Church has NOT lost and will not lose 65% of its membership over this issue. There are a great many proud progressives in the Episcopal Church, straight and gay, who are enthusiastic about the church's evolving stance on gay clergy and blessing gay unions. One News Now readers are not knowledgeable about the polity of the ECUSA and should keep their mouths shut about our decisions and how we reach them.

Thanks, Carl. I think we all suspected as much, but it's nice to see the idea reinforced.
