To The Catholic League's Bill Donohue:

Picture 11-48Dear Mr. Donohue,

In reaction to some comments you have made to the press, we just want to clarify something. The following comments are examples of a person crudely, cruelly showing bigotry towards Christians:

"I hate Christians and the world would be better if those Jesus freaks disappeared."

"Christianity and all Christians are evil."

The following comment, however, is an example of a comedian mocking the way so many celebrities thank Jesus at awards shows, as if their individual Hollywood success is truly something of which he should be concerned:

"A lot of people come up here and thank Jesus for this. He had nothing to do with this. ... Suck it, Jesus! This award is my god now." (Kathy Griffin, 9/8/2007)

So even though gay favorite Kathy Griffin is an out and proud atheist, her comment at this past weekend's Creative Arts Emmys is in no way a statement that should have her "remembered as a foul-mouthed bigot for the rest of her life." And her comment is no way comparable to the actual verbal attacks on population sects that have been launched by folks like Michael Richards, Mel Gibson, or Don Imus. The comment involves the personal relationship between Griffin and the role Jesus played in her basic cable reality show's Emmy win. And in fact, it would seem offensive to true Christianity to suggest that she SHOULD present such decadent frivolity as if it were bestowed by a Messiah!!!

Dude, Bill -- its not all about you! Trust us, mocking Marcia Cross is of far more importance to Griffin than mocking he who died on the cross.

Best,

Good As You

Your thoughts

No wonder they are against the proposed Hate Crime Law, clearly they are confused as to what qualifies as hate speech.
