Poll: Americans starting to dig 'civil'ity

by Jeremy Hooper

In an all-time high, a new ABC News/ WaPo poll suggests that 55% of the American public in is favor of allowing gay couples to enter into a civil union (with 42% opposing):

Obviously, this is promising news for those of us who enjoy basic fairness. Unfortunately, however, the 1,131 adults who took the telephone poll were not asked about full marriage equality as opposed to civil unions, so we don't know how many of them would prefer to offer up the whole enchilada. But considering we're not going to rest until we get the full parity that we deserve, we're hoping the drop-off rate between, "Sure, let's throw the gays some equal-but-different scraps" and "Sure, let's trait gays like the full and equal tax-paying Americans that they are" is somewhere between absent and minimal.

After all -- aren't we all sick of playing this pointless game that the gays are so clearly going to win in the end anyway?!

Your thoughts

I am happy that my fellow-Americans are starting to "Dig Civility" Re: GLBT Marriage in the form of Civil Unions.
Civillywedd.com looks forward to the day when full marriage rights are the norm; enjoy your ceremony planning there. I feel that when the politics of marrying finally affects all of humankind, inevitably there will be positive social change. Marriages, Civil-Unions, Civil and Domestic Partnerships; It's all good, dig it, support it and live it.
