Rubber: Ribbed for Peter's displeasure

by Jeremy Hooper

Devil-3In yet another piece in which he has voluntarily chosen to cover a fetish event so that he can proceed to connect such to the gay community at large, Americans For Truth's Peter LaBarbera today poses this question about participants of the recent "Mr. International Rubber":

Is “rubber” just another “sexual orientation” or a perversion that is so twisted that most normal people could not even conceive of it?

In yet another response to MrLabs, we reply:

Neither. In terms of orientation: Despite the way your side keeps trying to make it seem as if every benign fetish or extreme paraphilia is a "sexual orientation," such is simply not the case! Concepts like "rubber enthusiasm" are fetishes that exist with all TRUE sexual orientations (homo, hetero, bi). And there is not anyone who is trying to make things like rubber enthusiasm into an orientation!

In terms of "perversion": Despite the way your side has appointed yourselves the definers of "normalcy," you do not hold the keys to what is and is not twisted! Do you, Peter LaBarbera, personally feel that those who enjoy spicing up up their sex lives with materials like rubber and leather are acting outside the spectrum of acceptability? Yes, it seems that way. But despite the myopic way in which you like to present the world, PL, this society is inhabited by more than just missionary-only evangelicals! And many people, regardless of their personal affection for sexual explorations of this nature, see them as chosen activities in which some grown adults find enjoyment. It is a "perversion" of reality to make it sound as if such a choice makes them all "abnormal" or "twisted"!

Pete, muddying that waters of "sexual orientation" is a strategy to which your side has taken, as you want to make this whole gay thing look like one of a whole slew of identities which we queers could have "chosen" instead of homosexuality. And you want to make it seem as if protections and marriage for gay people will lead to a world in which one can be protected on the basis of various chosen activities. But considering that medical, biological, and mental realities are verifiable concepts under which your "rubber enthusiasm is like being gay" logic crumbles, we really don't understand why you kids keep trying to connect these duplicitous dots! Such is not making you look more "normal." Instead, it's exposing just how willing you all are to say whatever is most convenient to your moral outlooks, regardless of whether or not it has any basis in reality!

For the rest of Pete's rubber thoughts, as well as an unnecessarily large and graphic photo of the event that purportedly sickens him so much, click the link below:
