Video: Huck tries to diffuse horrid comments, proceeds to make more

by Jeremy Hooper

Remember those recently rediscovered book quotes in which Mike Huckabee did, no matter how you slice it, compare homosexuality to "pedophilia to sadomasochism and necrophilia"? Well on yesterday's "Meet The Press," the GOP candidate struggled to explain how, exactly, he lumped being gay in with the other three "aberrations," yet somehow didn't intend for homosexuality to be directly compared to things like kid- or corpse-f***ing. Oh yea, and he also makes a point to call gay "behavior" a "choice." Watch below:

(gay part begins around 3:53)

Now, of course the idea that "behavior is a choice" is nothing but anti-gay, far right code wording, meant to disconnect homosexuality from heterosexuality in terms of "normalcy." Because yes, obviously, having sex is and always will be a choice regardless of orientation. However, it is absurd to suggest that gays make a life-defining, "aberrant" choice, yet heterosexuals simply make choices in regards to the time, place, and frequency in which they engage in their "normal" relations. So anytime you hear a politician make a distinction between gay behavior and gay orientation, you should see a huge anti-gay red flag go up above their head. Because trust us: Our gay-demonizing, marriage-decrying, freedom-stifling opposition sees a big "Ooh, maybe he's one of us" flag when comments like this are made, which is the exact stealth purpose that folks like Huckabee mean for them to serve!

Your thoughts

Boys and girls, can you say patronizing?

I think he's Fred Rogers' evil twin. Listening to him, I'd say he's even more slippery than what we have now. It would be a travesty of democratic selection to elect him to any public office.
