Hey AFA: If you're gonna quote them, quote them accurately!!
The writers at the American Family Association's One News Now site are up to their old tricks again. They have run a new piece on the enactment of civil unions in New Hampshire, and every time the words "gay and lesbian" or "same-sex" couples are used the by the AP reporter, ONN has taken it upon themselves to change the word to "homosexual" (while still attributing the words to the AP's Beverly Wang). Here's a brief snippet:

It may seem to small to you. However, what we have here is an "values" organization continuing to make changes that go against the AP stylebook, without so much as noting that they are doing so. Their fear of the word "gay" trumps their desire to be journalistically ethical in terms of the way they use the AP's wire service. And considering that this is a group who cries, "SINNER!" if we gays so much as fart the wrong way, then you best believe we are going to keep calling them out on these bastardizations each and every time we see them!

I understand where you are coming in regards to gay vs. Homosexual.
But at same time if they want to refer to us as Homosexual we should embrace it the same way we embraced queer.

"midnight homosexual crowd": Great title OneNewsNow.
Make sure these couples desperate desire to pledge their love and protect their rights seems like some late-night, back-alley "shady doings."

Alonzo: This isn't about the politics of homosexual vs. gay. The issue is that they use the AP wire, present it as if it's the way the AP wrote it, attribute it back to the AP's writer, yet change the words without so much as a note. This goes against the AP stylebook.

Okay I look at AP stylebook - point taken.
Nonetheless we're talking about ONN you can’t really believe they would have any form of journalistic ethics to begin with, right?

"..you can’t really believe they would have any form of journalistic ethics to begin with, right?"
Nope. And we're gonna make sure that everyone else realizes this as well.
