'Off the record' emails: Pete's varying standards

by Jeremy Hooper

Over the years, this writer has exchanged numerous emails with Americans For Truth's Peter LaBarbera, with Pete making extra sure to say that our correspondences are off the record.  In fact, here is what he said over a year ago:

Picture 17-26

And while this site prefers to operate with more transparency and under the feeling that if you're willing to say something in email, you should be willing to stand by it in print, we've always respected Pete's wishes.

But you know, we can't help but see hypocrisy when Pete turns around and prints emails that were allegedly sent to Sally Kern, complete with address and contact information for some of the senders!!!!!  Go have a look:

Now for some Real Hate; Homosexuals Deluge Rep. Sally Kern with Mean, Vile Messages [AFT]

Now, this is the same Peter LaBarbera who raged with a FURY when a commenter on Pam Spaulding's site posted Pete's home address -- and now he's turning around and posting the names and work addresses of people who have (allegedly) raged with a fury against Ms. Kern! Double standard much?

Look, just like we decried  the violence that was implied against Peter last year, we strongly stand in opposition to the violence that is suggested in these emails to Ms. Kern.  But Pete's decision to vary his policies depending on whether or not the situation fits his "agenda" is also deplorable!  If these emails were sent to him directly or were comments made on his site, then the story would even be different.  But these are not even his property!  They are emails that apparently have been forwarded to him by Ms. Kern, which actually seems like a breach of conduct for an elected official (the likes of whom is trying to make a legal case for herself!)

Bad form, Pete!  Bad form, Sally!

Your thoughts

How do Peter and Sally even know these people are gay??? The e-mails never say "I am a gay man and therefore I think you should die." They're just assuming these email senders are gay, but the truth is I know alot of people who have a lot of hate for conservative Christians and their practices and ideas that aren't gay. It's unfortunate some people are being so profane. It gives them a shield, however flimsy, to hide under.

That's a good point, Shane.

I don't see how you can do it, G-A-Y. Why listen to Peter LaBarbera yap yap yap about homosex, when you can watch a porn instead? Plus the men are way hotter than Babs.
