'Rich' Floridian targets Anita Bryant's Poor legacy

S034For the third time in as many years, Florida state Senator Nan Rich has introduced a bill that would lessen (but not completely eliminate) the Sunshine State's disgusting ban on gay adoption:

Weston Senator Wants To End Gay Adoption Ban [CBS 4]

But as so often the case with our pushes for decency, there is a regressive yang to Rich's progressive yin. That historical roadblock this go-around? Well, that would be Florida's most outspoken 'mo foe, Sen. Ronda Storms, who just so happens to head up the committee to which Rich's measure has been sent. And Sen. Storms, being that she sees gayness as a Sin Storm, is refusing to even bring the matter up for debate. So just like it years past, Rich's bill is expected to bite it before it really even gets out of the gate.

But whatever. We're sure the state's foster kids and potential adoptees will grow into and eventually accept their unnecessarily more likely to be parent-less state. And if not? Well, they can just thank the good, "pro-family" types for fighting so aggressively to "protect the children"!

Your thoughts

Speaking of Anita Bryant, you must check out this video on YouTube when several gay activists tossed a banana cream pie in her face during a news conference; it's still funny all these years later: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dS91gT3XT_A
