Wherein FOF recognizes our gay union

by Jeremy Hooper

Remember last week when we kept changing the new personalized features on Focus on the Family's website so that when we altered our profile name, the site would make either pro-gay statements or comments about their own mistreatment of the LGBT community? Well, after our playtime was over, the last message that we we left up was this one:

And honestly, we had forgotten all about our undertaking and the name that we'd left up as our profile identity. That is until this arrived yesterday in our snail mail Inbox:

Yes, that's right -- this writer is now inscribed on FOF's mailing list (and likely also counted as a supporter) as "Dobsons Lil Gay Scap." It has a certain ring to it, no?

But here's the truly interesting part. All new "members" of the FOF community are entitled to a free copy of the organization's magazine. And of said magazine, there are two different editions -- a general version and a "couples" version. So which did FOF send this proudly gay writer?

The couples version. And why did they extend the couples edition offer to me? Well, because when I signed up, I was truthful about the domestic partner with whom I share every step of life's journey, and who I would have married half a decade ago if my nuptials were allowed:

So essentially, Focus on the Family has just given me a spousal benefit. They have recognized that I, "Dobsons Lil Scap" Hooper, am part of a couple, and they have adjusted their magazine distribution to accommodate my shared life.

Sure, backing off the barrage of attacks they wage against my life and love would be far more gratifying, and sure the piece of fine china they could choose off of my and Andrew's wedding registry would be of more value. But for now, we'll take this first step towards the recognition of same-sex unions. Thanks, FOF!

As for 'AGENDA' I don't think that is on Dagon's AGENDA that we are working on
on PHB, but we could suggest he add it, as it is still a WIP.

Is this not a complete waste of your life? What will you be remembered for when you pass away unto death. May Yeaweh rebuke you -- in Jesus Christ's name I pray this -- amen.

Mr. S: Nope. Letting the likes of you get away with telling us that our lives and loves are a "waste" because we are gay would be the true tragedy.

But by all means, go ahead and pray for our rebuking if it makes you feel better.
