Video: There is, in fact, a gay Gene

by Jeremy Hooper

Openly gay Episcopal bishop Gene Robinson was on "Today" this morning, putting a human face on just how threatened a gay person can feel if they dare to take a righteous, public stand for their life and love. Check it out:

Wow, a bulletproof vest? That must've been to protect him from his fellow "militant" gays, right? [::writer rolls eyes at the flawed yet widely accepted idea that it is the pro-equality side who is filled with hostility::]

Despite death threats, gay bishop plans civil union

Your thoughts

My Grandma was episcopalian, and, while she died shortly after he was made a bishop, she was so proud of her church at the time. I remember her calling our house so excited after she got the news. So when I hear of Gene I remember that there are those in the church who defy stereotypes and embrace him. If an 83 year old Texas Lady could embrace him, there is hope for others. It just may take some time. (of course I know it will take work, but I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel, lets hope it's not a train)

I love Bishop Robinson. He's so genuine, so kind, and so brave for going on and doing what he thinks is right in the face of adversity. Go Gene!
