AZ: Marriage ban stumbles; we can't help but laugh
Good news for gays who live in states where massive holes are considered tourist attractions: By a 14-11 vote, the Arizona Senate today put the kibosh on a proposal to ban same sex marriage:
Ban on same-sex marriage fails in Arizona Senate [AZ Central]
Although it's not a 100% Hallelujah, as senators did go on to vote to reconsider the measure at a future date. But let's not think about that dark, unneeded possibility for now. For now, let's obnoxiously gloat over the fact that social conserva-tremism is rapidly moving into this country's backseat, where its tireless cries of "Theocracy -- are we there yet?!" will ever more resoundingly be met with reasoned, authoritative lessons in tolerance and respect!
**Headline note: Of course we made sure the measure wasn't truly injured before laughing. Whatdya think we are, troglodytes?!
Your thoughts
First California, then Maine, now Arizona. It's breaking out all over this summer. This bodes well.
