The militant Protect Marriage agenda is out to destroy marriage

You know how we gays are constantly accused of having an "agenda" (typically in the same hyperbolic ways that we employed in the headline for this post)? Yea, well, the folks at ProtectMarriage.com, who are working day and night to ban marriage equality in the Golden State, have released a new memo detailing ever aspect of the battle plan for how "Pastors, Friends and Christian Leaders" should handle the ongoing anti-gay marriage campaign. It's pretty revelatory, if you care to check it out:

A Special Invitation [ProtectMarriage.com]

Best part for us? This:

FASTING AND PRAYER
One of the things I am most excited about is our upcoming 40 Day Statewide Fast, from September 25 to November 2. Individuals may fast portions or all of the 40 days, as they are led, or they may fast in “relays” as teams.

It's not the best because it sheds great light into our opponents' strategy -- it's the best because it's just so wggity-wacky! We can't for the life of us understand why these folks are lashing out against our unions by NOT eating. Aren't we the ones who have to squeeze ourselves into formalwear and pose before our relatives' cameras?! Shouldn't we be the ones cutting out the carbs and corn syrup?! And what exactly does our organized opposition think they're showing us by denying themselves sustenance -- that they possess a heightened ability to keep both their minds and their mouths closed?!

Whatever. Again, if you want to read the full agenda, it gives some insight into how they view this issue, and why their side's aggressively short-sighted rationale remains so intensely frustrating. But if you'd rather drive needles into your eyes rather than subject yourself to the frustration, we understand that too.

That's why we love you JH you do it for us! ... Gawd a 40 day fast.... in the wilderness of Death Valley I hope... or Needles... just so they can get used to the HEAT of that other place you know.

I think we should encourage them to fast, completly for the full 40 days.

There are too many obese christians!

Tonykw: Yea, actually encouraging Americans of all faiths to reconsider their diet for 40 days is something I can totally get behind. This might be the best plan they've ever concocted.

I understand why they are fasting for it is a reason to "get serious with God and denying oneself". It is used in scripture many times and I have done it numerous times as well one time for 21 days. Many religions fast so it is not anything new. Fasting is good for the body as well for it cleanses the toxins out of the system. Heck it probably would do the gay community a world of good to fast as well (shed those muffin tops!).

The conservative side of the Christian community will for the most part be set against us for their religious reasons (note it is their interpretation of scripture). But I know if we in the gay community reveal to the many others that we are just like one of them it begins to have a pull on them. For I know that this is one issue they really do not have any real answers for. They can not explain why there are gay men and lesbians in every country across the globe. The more honest and real we are in just being ourselves and our defenses down the more they will have to deal with it and their walls will slowly come down.

But if the gay community continues to ridicule people of faith (whatever kind) then they then choose to back themselves in the corner. Reality is that thankfully the gay community is discovering a spiritual sense about itself and seeing that there is more to life than just me myself and I.

I suggest we organize a 40-day brunch to coincide with their fast.

Delicious!
