Oh why isn't fact-free illogic 'immutable and unchangeable'?

Creech BIn response to an anti-bullying bill that's being considered by the North Carolina General Assembly, the Christian Action League of North Carolina's Mark Creech is quoted as saying the following to One News Now:

"The evil of the legislation," says Creech, "is that it elevates sexual orientation and gender identity or expression on the same levels with the enumerations of race, color, ancestry, national origin, gender, physical appearance, mental, physical or sensory disability -- which are all immutable or unchangeable characteristics."

Creech contends that homosexuality, bisexuality, transgenderism, cross-dressing, and other alternate sexual behaviors are not immutable or unchangeable.

We, mustering a tone so sarcastic it would make a particularly snide teenage girl version of Bill Maher seem like an ardent foe of mockery, respond:

"OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH -- Mark Creech contends that homosexuality is both mutable and changeable?!! Well geez, why didn't someone say so? That changes EVERYTHING! All this time it's seemed to us like science, reasoned consideration of the spectrum of humanity, anecdotal testaments of actual gay people, common sense, and reasoned consideration of the world we live in and why nobody would 'choose' to be gay in it, would hold far more weight than the faith-based 'we says gays can change because in-born homosexuality would make our discriminatory endeavors look far more mean-spirited' standpoint! But now that we've learned that Mark Creech, a man who has a vested interest in keeping gays from being seen as a suspect class, thinks homosexual orientation is less like heterosexuality and more like a nudie mag that you can stash away under your bed whenever you're not feeling randy, we'll have to rethink our every view!!"
[/end the sort of uber-sardonic tone that can only be brought about by years and years of having your life and loved constantly derided by fact-less stances]

It remains to be seen if North Carolina will help protect LGBT students by passing the anti-bullying bill. However, it is still quite clear that the self-professed "pro-family" movement is far from passing the point where baseless gay stigmatization is de rigueur.

Your thoughts

Perhaps someone should remind him that religion isn't immutable and thus he should advocate for non-Christians or other Christians of a different sect should be free to persecute or discriminate against him.

Notice how he conveniently leaves out "religion" which IS a choice and IS a protected category of identification?

Color, gender, physical appearance and physical disabilities are all mutable. Ever heard of Michael Jackson, hermaphrodites, changing your clothes and physical therapy?

Throughout this entire debate, Creech has spent more time talking about homosexuality than he has children. Clearly, his priorities are focused on anal sex and not protecting school children.

More at my pad Jeremy.
