SC: Gay man slides into home; he's 'out', not safe

by Jeremy Hooper

200807180930An 18-year-old gay man from Anderson County, South Carolina, is claiming that when he returned to his home this past Sunday after attending a local gay pride parade, his less-than-pride-filled father proceeded to assault him with a baseball bat in order to “cast the demon of homosexuality out of him.” The Independent Mail has more on this alleged -- we repeat, alleged -- strike:

(H/t: Towle)

Foul! Here's just hoping the father, if guilty, doesn't add insult to injury by using the "in this economy, baseballs are just too expensive" defense!

**UPDATE: Or maybe the kid is just lying. In fact, that seems to be exactly the case:

Your thoughts

There are some ugly comments at that link, Jeremy. I captured the worst one before they could remove it.

Perhaps he should join Pink Pistols?

No report, does he have a SAFE house? Is there a PFLAG to contact??

Ugh. Thanks, Jamie.

Scott: Or rather than create more violence, the father can get help with his own (alleged) rage.

Sigh, and I'm moving there for a job in a couple weeks.

So, what does the "demon of homosexuality" look like and what would the father have done if said demon actually leapt out of the boy's body?

"Scott: Or rather than create more violence, the father can get help with his own (alleged) rage."

It's not junk science that'll tell him he's sane when he's REALLY a lunatic, therefore, he won't get help.

The way I see it, if it comes between a gay basher and a gay person having the upper hand - better the gay person survive, than the crazy old man who still believes in fairy tales.

Gandhi won't help you when a lunatic is coming your way with a bat, knife or whatever.

And even if you don't believe in guns, there's always tasers. What better way to stop a fundie in his tracks, than to zap him to his knees, and watch him scream like a girl.

But remember: the father is STRAIGHT, so he's a better parent than any or us will be.
