Superfluous word, pointed usage

The following headline, with a certain unnecessary detail about the adoptee, is running on the American Family Association's One News Now site:

But actually, on second thought, they would never run this followup. Revealing their modus operandi would totally ruin their game.

I think they even got the facts wrong in the article. They stated MS is the only other state that forbids gays adopting. My understanding is that MS and UT forbid unmarried couples from adopting but don't actually stop gay singles from adopting, like Florida does. (The new 'sneaky' way of trying to ban us from adopting....)
