Video: Economic crisis, two wars -- AND GAY DUDES PLEDGING A COMMITMENT!!!!!!!!!!!

by Jeremy Hooper

Political ads have to be quick and punchy, slamming the most pertinent parts of a candidates message into a 30 second time span (with at least 4 of those secs going to the "I approve of this message" line). For uber-conservative senator James Inhofe (R-OK), its apparently demeaning gay equality that first and foremost deserves address:

It's of course always gross to see our lives used in this way. But in this election, there's another element to all this. The exploitation is almost starting to look archival. It's as if we're students fifty years from now watching a documentary on early 21st century bias rather than current citizens actually being used a vote-gathering tool. There's an odd retro vibe surrounding it all.

Although we are quite happy for the manufacturers of same-sex wedding cake toppers. After all, the social conservatives, through their constant purchasing of the wares to use in political effigy, have surely put the topper purveyor's kids through college!
