'America's Finest City' vs. 'November's Nastiest Proposition'

Picture 1-207By a vote of 6-2, the San Diego City Council has voted to oppose Proposition 8:

City Council votes 6-2 to oppose Prop. 8 [Union-Tribune]

There are a number of reasons cited for why the six council members went our way. But our theory: All of them have been to the city's famous zoo on the hottest of summer days, and so see no reason to tarnish their city or state with the legal equivalent to the steaming pile of gorilla kaka that they encountered on their visit.
