'Big names' vs. 'Wow, big shocker! names'

So this is cute. In a terse piece about Propositions 8's pro and con sides and the public support each have been able to garner, Focus on the Family's Citizenlink is running this headline:

Picture 1-206

So who are the "big names" they highlight on the pro-equality side? Google, Apple, and Pacific Gas & Electric Co.

The sole "big name they highlight on the anti-gay/anti-equality side? Pastor Rick Warren.

Yes, that's right -- They're putting major public companies who have boldly taken a stand for peace in the same "big name" class as an evangelical preacher whose marriage stance was never an unknown. But hey, when your biggest celebrity backer is octogenarian actor Orson Bean and the biggest business on board is a San Diego franchise of the Hyatt hotel chain, you gotta play the hand you've been given!

Although if you think this attempt to keep up is a bit of a stretch, be sure to look for tomorrow's FOF piece, where we hear they'll reply to Ellen Degeneres and Brad Pitt's opposition to Prop 8 by touting those extremists on their side who consider gays and lesbians "Degenerates who should be tossed in Pits."

Your thoughts

To their credit, they are basically admitting that Religion is big business! In fact, it is probably bigger, and more profitable, than all of the other three combined! That's quite impressive, given that they provide nothing but a social club and some pie in the sky fantasy.
