'Yes on 8' signs: Now maiming more than top soil

by Jeremy Hooper

We knew those "yes on 8" signs were eyesores. We did not, apparently, pay enough attention to how sore they could make the rest of one's body. This from The Daily Breeze of Torrance:

beastlyA man wearing a "No on 8" button was beaten with a "Yes on 8" lawn sign in Torrance this week in what police characterized as a possible hate crime.
Joseph Storm, 23, is due in Torrance Superior Court today for arraignment on a felony charge of a hate crime assault and a misdemeanor count for interfering with another's exercise of civil rights, according to Deputy District Attorney Janet Wilson.
...
The victim, whom Wilson described as openly gay, said, he was wearing a "No on Prop. 8" button when he encountered Storm.

Storm took a nearby "Yes on Prop. 8" lawn sign and knocked the victim down with it, then punched him in the face and choked him, Wilson said.

During the beating, Storm called the 22-year-old a derogatory name for homosexuals, Wilson said.

The victim was treated at a hospital, where he had an inch-long cut on his head, she added.

Sheesh, it was bad enough that their rhetoric made our brains hurt! The least you could do, anti-gay side, is leave physical attacks on our craniums out of this mess!

But don't get any ideas about retaliating with "
NO ON 8!" signs, fellow lovers of equality. The only sign we need in our "attacks" is this one:

Your thoughts

Storm claims he attacked the victim, because the victim was littering. That seems like a perfectly appropriate reaction to littering. Especially if you haven't taken your meds for a couple of months.

Yea, Mike, I didn't even think his excuse was worth acknowledging.

The No on 8 groups should be working hard to get the press to report and investigate this story. Perhaps people will start to realize the hate that drives 8.
