Yin and yang: Once-popular software edition
Back in July we brought you word that Bruce Bastian, one of the founders of the WordPerfect software program, donated one million dollars towards Proposition 8's failure. Well now comes word(less-than-perfect) that the software's other creator, Alan Ashton (a Mormon), has given a million to PASS the cruel and discriminatory measure:

So first we got the "perfect" half of the company, and now we get the "word." And unfortunately Mr. Ashton's typesetting leaves our type way too far outside the margins!
Though it does explain why they were once such successful partners, as a key to the word processing software's success was its ability to embrace both left- and right-justified positioning.
