Audio: HELP -- the mean gays looked at public donor rolls!!!!

Of all the anti-gay side's post-Prop 8 arguments, one of the most infuriaing has to be the disingenuous idea that gays who are acknowledging "yes on 8" contributors are somehow using sneaky tactics. A disingenuous notion that longtime anti-gay Robert Knight is now peddling:

Yea, Robert, the contributions are all on a website. You know who runs that website? THE CALIFORNIA SECRETARY OF STATE! That's because, as you very well know, these contributions are public record. It's campaign finance law. And any other site that obtains this information and has a reaction to it, does so not out of "brownshirting," but rather by using their own right to (a) look at public records and (b) have a natural response to the same!

As we've pointed out before, the big revelation here is that the "yes on 8" contributors are so often scared to own up to their donations. Whereas we have yet to come across a "no on 8" donator who is "offended" by their contribution going public (including famous ones like Brad Pitt and Steven Spielberg), the "yes on 8" side is filled with people who are simply shocked -- SHOCKED! -- that their anti-gay financing has come out of the closet. To us, this unwillingness to own what should be financial acts of conscience is truly telling!
