'FLYER' & 'FLIER' are both acceptable spellings. 'Yes on 8' embraces 'L-I-E' version.

by Jeremy Hooper

If we were running for student council president, and the head cheerleader gave us us an "F-U" when we asked her to support our campaign, we probably wouldn't user her perky face in our electoral literature. Or if while pushing for our office to adopt a causal Friday policy, our cubicle neighbor emphatically said he was against us removing our ties in a bout of "TGIF!" abandon, we would probably not want to use said coworker's testimony in our pitch to big boss man. Because, of course, when pushing for a cause or appointment in which you strongly believe, one doesn't typically like to highlight those who stand against their endeavor.

Well never ones to run anything resembling an honest or orthodox campaign, the "yes on prop 8" folks have now taken their penchant for anti-intellectual shadiness to a whole new level. How, you ask? Well, the anti-gay side has been disseminating a mailer that looks like this:

Only problem for the mailer? Barack Obama is against Prop 8. Barack Obama is against all marriage bans. Joe Biden too. No, the Democratic ticket is not yet with us on the word "marriage." But they, unlike the rights-robbers at 'yes on 8,' do support our civil equality. And they have made their anti-8 stance perfectly clear.

Yet here we have Team Unscrupulous FIbâ„¢ once again working under false pretenses to give voters a skewed view of their cause and its supposed "support." Which we can kinda understand, since support for their cause is pretty much absent in every public sector imaginable. What we don;t understand? How they even begin to present themselves as the "good," "moral," "truthful," "decent" side and keep a straight (and only straight) face!

Here's NO ON 8's official reaction to the underhanded mailer, which contains a strong denunciation from Obama-Biden:
