FYI: Mormon temple protest
We hear there is some intense protesting currently going on at the Westwood Mormon Temple in Los Angeles, CA. Some are already calling this a new Stonewall.
Watch raw video:
[Alright, we're pulling the video feed now. However, you can still watch archived video form yesterday's protest here: NewsRaw LIVE [KNBC]
Oh, and also:
Send a message to the Mormon Church, whose members raised more than $15 million to fund the deceitful advertising campaign for Proposition 8, the initiative that takes away the right to marry for same sex couples in California!
Invalidate Prop 8
**UPDATE, 11/7: Andy Towle has some coverage:
Thousands Join Marriage Equality Protest at L.A. Mormon Church [Towle]
Strip the Mormon Church of its Tax Exempt Status [Towle]
Your thoughts
Idaho gays and lesbians are outraged at the mormon church and not going to take it. We have to say now. One boycott is Peterson Motors, contributor of almost 10,000 local dollars to the hate 8 campaign. They struck gold, the hornets nest. Just say no to Mormons. NOOOOOO. Tell all your relatives of the boycotts.

Robin.
I don't believe your hooey for one minute. It took the church 100 years to fess up to the massacre. How about the take over of Idaho politics. Humanitarian aid.......don't you fool us for a minute.....I live in an entirely lds neighborhood and I know who they look after, give jobs to, help and so on....only their own. I want all general conferneces and know entirely the dose of paranoia and new separation being sold. Your candy coating is just what your church tells you to do... zombie nation. Take a look at the word anosognosia. Take a look at the word narcissism. Both refer to people who act in egotistical ways without insight to their error.....as did a german nation that killed 9 million jews and a half million gays. No to you....one from the church of the denied massacre.

Robin, seems to me you have something a bit repressed there.....wonder what it is? I know what it was for me when I addressed rage, then came out of the mormon church, then came out!

R, sweetheart. We want to not be a part of this controversy here, its not recommended. Please see your bishop tomorrow about proper public etiquette. Just trying to help you in your growth. A Sister.

Robin. Im so glad you can justify killing of innocent women and children, hearded up like chickens to slaughter, and yes, they were slaughtered. Haven't you heard of World War ll? Gas chambers? Hitler who has so many good reason to kill?
Posted by: Bill Stouter | Nov 8, 2008 7:50:08 PM
Robin, I agree with you entirely. We have to be rational. I too, many times, feel just like the vampire on the movie, Van Helsing, I have no heart, I am hollow. You and I are alike. I wish you were here at byu with me.

What are the mormon businesses? How do you find that out. I want to take some boycott or letter action. Any help out there?
Posted by: Josh Byers | Nov 8, 2008 7:54:15 PM
Robin, thanks for the help on the sanctity of marriage thing. There are lots of good books out on mormon sancity of marriage, including the 26th Wife, about the hillarious living of a house of one horney guy and a bundle of women, called a harem in other cultures. Me, I'm a gay man. Most men I like to "date" are married men in Provo. We have a nice circle, if you know what I mean. They know Im safe in terms of tattling. There's thousands for me to pick from ,that's why I moved here. Its a candy store. They have the sanctity of marriage, and me. How more divine could it get? We're both on track with the same thing, let's keep these mormon marriages together....its a win win.

oh my gosh, we've gone from a church supporting a gay marriage ban to one of them now justifying their murder at MT Meadow Massacre. This story played on the news this summer. I heard of it in LA and not in my Utah home town.

Are there any protests going on Sunday at Temples? I'm in Provo and hope there is one here (my mom's gonna kill me),but can get a ride to Salt Lake. I have 10 other kids from my school excited. We made some great signs. I read about the Gay Liberation Front and Stonewall. We have a neat history of standing up and resisting. Cool.

why are gays so unorganized?
Posted by: T. J. | Nov 8, 2008 8:20:42 PM
Robin, are you a nazi?
Posted by: Jeff Roth | Nov 8, 2008 8:21:43 PM
The nazi comment may seem reactive by that last person, but I want to follow on the line of reasoning. Hitler convinced millions that jews and gays were evil, coniving and dirty. Thy too, like the mormons, had justified lists of reasons to kill literally millions, the holocaust.
I have read several recent books on the Moutain Meadow Massacre and it points to the same Hitleresque reasoning, contrived reasons for murder. Obviously the young writer's sources are mormon. That would be like asking some Nazi to describe the history of the Holocaust. There can be no objective view by this young mormon writer, how could Robin not be loyal to her Mother church? How can she speak against her church or it's published view of history when her President and Quorum directtly warn her not to crisitcise and excommunicate any person who questions any chruch history (just google church communications).
So, we have to sit down with a number of historical books and hope we are getting an accurate view: her inside view cannot be correct. To do this, I recommend you get from Amazon or your public library any number of books from non-lds publishers on the Mountain Meadow Massacre. Further, you will find hundreds of blogs about this. Good luck. History is fun.

I think this protesting places the LGBT community in a very bad light. Come Monday the right-wing news media will be running stories on this. Bishop Weigand released a statement saying the attacks on the Morman Church are bigotry since people of many faiths worked to pass Prop 8. I think this is the wrong thing to do.
Posted by: Fran | Nov 8, 2008 10:11:49 PM
Oh come on Fran. Bishop Weigland says this is an attack on Mormons. Well what about mormons providing 70% of the funds for the campaign. What about a church wide program? Don't think this is excusing you.....you are targetted and now put on notice....you. Stop your hate an biggotry.....No more, no more poor me excuses too. You made your bed and you sleep in it. And, keep you dmnnnnn missionaries off my property. NO More Mt Meadow massacres and little pansy excuses. I hope Utah and mormons suffer financially. I will help that happen personally.
Posted by: Jeff Roth | Nov 9, 2008 12:21:48 AM
Fran, if it feels you are being picked on....you're right. Its not your imagination. And, its just starting. lets see what a few years of this will be like.
Posted by: Jeff Roth | Nov 9, 2008 12:22:58 AM
Poor Fran. Oh, they didn't do anything wrong to get criticism did they. They're only innocent. They don't hate anybody. No foreigh country ever has totally banned the Mormon church from entering based on reputation...now, has it????
Posted by: Sue Bentner | Nov 9, 2008 12:28:26 AM
Fran, are you speaking for the LGBT community? Obviously you're not one of us. I think we'll speak for ourself and determine what's best for us. Stay out!

I'm a professor at a "university". I came out this week, I couldn't handle it any more. They got me off the campus in 5 minutes and shipped my stuff to me. In just a few minutes, my voice and email disappeared. Its like I was never there.

Wow, that mormon lady says we're all mocking god!!!!!! I love God. You don't know what is in my heart. I love god and only have problems with religious haters. Think of it, they've been there over time, the Inquisition kills millions, witches killed in europe and the US by fundamentlists, and really, just about every other war before out own time has been over religion, and from all faiths. Christians can be judged by what's inside and how they act on the outside to others. I think Mother Teresa was a great example, incredible compassion for others, service, no judgement, and even in her posthumous diary, it was revealed that she struggled daily to know God. But the heart was humble, quiet, and not focused on how to judge and legislate others. Its time for the lesbian avengers to arise. Fran, you're not invited though, your not an avenger, you're revengeful.

Professor Gene Sessions, a Mormon, historian and authority on the massacre has concluded:
"... some 50 Mormons taking orders from local ecclesiastical leaders actually went out and tricked these 120 people out of their encampment with a white flag and then proceeded to murder them in cold blood with the exception of 17 small children. ...
"It's an awful story, you can't put a smilie face on it. This was cold-blooded murder of innocent people. Occasionally someone will come up to me and say, 'Well don't you think they deserved it?' And, no I don't think they deserved it. I don't care how many of the stories you believe about whatever the immigrants did to get killed, nothing they did came anywhere close to justifying the murder of little children and the oldest child saved was six-years and 11 months old. Everyone older than that was murdered. In fact most of the murdered people were women and children. So there's no justification. Even if you wanted to make some justification for killing the men, it breaks down pretty fast. It's just- there's no justification for the murder of these people. ..."

Very interesting that people assume that I am of a certain denomination. I accepted Christ into my life and was saved at bible camp when I was just a kid. Since then I have never turned my back on God and I will not do it now, nor do I want to. In standing up for Christ this is what you have suffered me: Members of this forum have called me names ranging from bully to narcissist, nazi to bigot, and also added insults about the websites I visited to expand my knowledge about various religions and historical events, one comment even decided that I wanted to know his secret sex life with married men? Where did that come from? It is proven that you can not tolerate my different opinions. I tried to give you insight on why I voted YES. Alas, I have not changed my mind on my Yes vote for protecting marriage in CA. Looks like the sheeple here can not look outside their own assumptions and hatred. It is sad that the G-A-Y forum is doing all the things that they wrongly accused me of doing. Well, I have to leave here due to the abuse shot my way. I wish you fun at your protest and remember not to be so angry with rage because even in your homosexuality Jesus still loves each of you. Can the LGBT community ever achieve tolerance of people that want to protect traditional family life?

Robin. This isnt the Robin is so sincere, innocent, kind loving blog. Get off this blog and take your mistaken crap somewhere else because we can see right through it. By the way, google hitler, nazi germany, and mormons if you want to expand your knowledge. Hey, expand your knowledge, get to know some gays...... (sounds like you might be one,,,,,pent up)

Quotation:
"If any miserable scoundrels come here, cut their throats." Brigham Young 1
"The Mountain Meadows Massacre stands without a parallel amongst the crimes that stain the pages of American history. It was a crime committed without cause or justification of any kind to relieve it of its fearful character... When nearly exhausted from fatigue and thirst, [the men of the caravan] were approached by white men, with a flag of truce, and induced to surrender their arms, under the most solemn promises of protection. They were then murdered in cold blood." William Bishop, Attorney to John D. Lee.

Regarding the comment of the massacred and the mormons being innocent, here is a quote from the history books:
Brigham Young led a church cover-up, saying that the Natives were responsible for the massacre. He wrote that pioneers had earlier caused the death of Natives by giving them poisoned meat, and by poisoning some of their wells.

Look at them, mormons, and that one responder in this column as a bully. Google the term stop bullies. My fav site is
www.kickbully.com.
While its about workplace bullies, it tells about the personality character of those that are bullies, and that the only solution is to stop them...they won't negotiate.... they are like Robin, self absorbed, righteous, feel they are right, feel they are suffering to put up with lessers, and others are stupid and wrong. This site will change your life. Also, watch any good vampire movie.....hehehehe
